What it doesChoose a source paint and target brand to get a colour-based shortlist. A low ΔE2000 score means the stored colour values are closer; it does not prove that two physical paints cover, dry, reflect light, or handle identically.

Use colour and behaviour togetherMetallics, washes, transparent one-coat paints, and standard opaque acrylics are not behaviourally interchangeable just because their recorded colour is close. Coverage, opacity, hue bias, finish, undercoat, and use case can matter as much as hue.
